Strategic Aboriginal water reserves

This page has information about water reserves for Aboriginal landowners in the Northern Territory (NT).

In 2017, the NT Government released a policy about strategic Aboriginal water reserves.

It aims to give Aboriginal people access to more water resources.

The reserves are a volume of water set aside only for landowners to use or trade.

Stakeholders were invited to give feedback on how best to deliver the scheme.

Read the Strategic Aboriginal water reserves policy framework (419.8 kb).

The framework sets out how the reserves can be applied to current and new water allocation plans.
