Central Petroleum CTP3-2 2020-21 NT Drilling Campaign EMP

On 31 August 2020 Central Petroleum Ltd (Central) has submitted an Environment Management Plan (EMP) for assessment under the Petroleum (Environment) Regulations 2016.

The EMP proposes a conventional drilling program in five existing petroleum fields within the Amadeus Basin, in Central Australia – EP82, PL6, PL7, OL3 and OL4. The EMP also proposes civil works and installation of infrastructure.

The activities are scheduled to commence in late 2020 and include:

  • construction of access tracks, well leases, vehicle turnarounds and temporary campsites
  • re-grading of previously used temporary campsites
  • extraction of gravel and sand to support construction activities
  • using a mixture of commercially supplied and existing groundwater bores for water requirements
  • installation and commissioning of above and below ground pipelines
  • drilling wells using a combination of air/mist and mud based drilling systems
  • flaring of gas during well testing
  • onsite disposal of drill cutting, drill fluids and completion fluids in appropriately lined sumps where certified as acceptable by a third party certifier
  • completion of wells (excluding Orange-3 and Mamlambo-1 well)
  • decommissioning wells that are not completed
  • rehabilitation of wells that are decommissioned.
