Darwin Harbour Report Card 2016

About the Blackmore River Estuary

The Blackmore River estuary has extensive mangrove fringes and intertidal mudflats. The upper reaches are subject to persistent freshwater flows that are sustained throughout the dry season by continuous releases from Darwin River Dam and flows from natural permanent springs in the lower parts of Darwin River.

The Blackmore River is affected by rural development in the catchment and occasional small wastewater discharges from local aquaculture operations.
