Top End air quality

Since 2004, the Northern Territory Government has conducted particulate monitoring in the Darwin region.

In late 2010, monitoring was expanded to include a full ambient air quality monitoring station located near Palmerston.

Another station was installed at Winnellie in mid 2012.

In general the primary pollutant in Darwin and Palmerston is smoke from distant and local vegetation burning during the dry season. It's represented by particulates less than 2.5 microns.

To find out more about air quality in the Top End go the NT EPA site.

You can also monitor the air quality via new app call 'AirRater'.
