The Territory Government has passed the Environment Protection Act 2019 (the Act).

The Act provides the basis for an improved impact assessment and approval system for the Northern Territory.

The Environment Protection Regulations have been developed to support the Act and identify the Territory's proposed environmental impact assessment processes.

The Regulations have been developed based on the feedback received through consultation with:

  • industry groups
  • land councils
  • environmental groups
  • government agencies
  • other key stakeholders.
